Annual Service of Remembrance 2008 - 20 Years On

Our Annual Service of Remembrance took place on Sunday 9th November 2008, in St. Theresa's Church, Donore Avenue, Dublin 8. As always our service is a very special occasion and a chance to acknowledge in peace or be part of the experience with others who have also experienced this great loss of a part of their family. This years service was even more special than usual as 2008 marks the 20th Anniversary of the Miscarriage Association of Ireland. We were honoured that so many members past and present accepted our invitations to attend this special service and joined us in remembering all of our babies, whom we had the privilege to share their lives, if but for a short while, and to light a candle during the service in remembrance of them all. Immediately prior to this years Annual Service, with the help of Fr. Sean McArdle and Rev. Sonia Hicks, we unveiled a Memorial Stone in the grounds of St. Theresa's Church, Donore Avenue. This stone is in honour of all of our babies whose lives were too short, and also to mark the occasion of the 20th year of The Miscarriage Association of Ireland. Everyone who attended this years service got to take home two beautiful mementoes of the day, a silver Newbridge 'Dove' and a sapling tree which they can plant at home in memory of their babies. We are very grateful to Fr. Sean McArdle for all his assistance with and placing of this Memorial Stone and for his continued support of our Annual Service of Remembrance and the Miscarriage Association of Ireland in general. See more details about our Memorial Stones. We would also like to thank Lucan Folk Group for their beautiful and poignant music and singing and all the numerous people who helped out on the day and with all the preparations beforehand, making the day the success that it was.
